In 1981 we moved to Toronto – Steels and Warden Ave. to be more exact. We moved into an apartment and lived on the 20th floor. Although it was part of Scarborough, it looked like we were in the country since you had to drive on dirt roads to get to our building.
We lived there for 14 years and 200,000 people moved into the area.During the 1980s was the time when Canada opened the doors to people from Hong Kong with over 500,000 moving to Canada in a few short years.
We witnessed the malls change from English to Asian and one by one businesses started to have Asian only signs. Home after home was built and purchased by Asian people and slowly even the churches started to have Asian only services. To us this wasn’t a problem.
My wife donated time teaching English as a Second Language to Asian people but many whites and blacks had a hard time. Suddenly their neighborhood had a new culture, customs and language.
Throughout history racism starts when such changes occur in communities when those who hold to their culture and customs are forced to allow others to live side by side with them.
Just how many white communities over the years hated it when the first black family moved in. To them their white culture, traditions and customs were suddenly under attack. For these whites their whole way of life had to be defended.
Janie Jamieson’s statements in Toronto Life demonstrates Racism
Imagine my surprise to read that Janie Jamieson, Native Spokesperson for DCE occupation, used the very words that whites used when Blacks move in to their neighborhoods. When the Asians first moved into Scarborough they were met with the same racist statements and attitude that Jamieson admits to in the Toronto Life story. The following is the quote from Toronto Life Aug 2007:
For Jamieson, the story raised a red flag. The plan projected 7,000 new residents in Haldimand County alone over the next 20 years. “That really frightened me,” she recalls. “All these strangers moving right onto our doorstep, and we had no say in it.”
This is like reading white supremacy material that shows a fear that Blacks are moving in and the whites have no say. Whites fear their culture and traditions would start to change. Their children would slowly mix and white culture would be lost.
Jamieson states in the Toronto Life story that “We have such a strong, rich history…” This is true but so does every group. What Jamieson is presenting is that by allowing Italians, Germans, Asians, Africans etc. to move right onto their ‘doorstep’ that she was ‘frightened’.
This truly is the heart of racism.

Red Power - Native Supremacy Movement in Ontario
Caledonia Wakeup Call has discovered that there is a Native Supremacy movement under way in Ontario. Some of the material has been proudly flaunted on Six Nations “reclamation” website, and at least one source of a new level of hate has been revealed. “Red Power Studios “has been manufacturing video’s encouraging the use of deadly force by Natives against Canadian citizens.
CSIS is investigating and we hope to have more information soon.
What we know to be true at this time is that these Native Supremacy videos have been circulating the internet for months now via multiple sources including the Six Nations “reclamation” site which is a chat board where people who support or take place in the Douglas Creek Estates occupation and other Native terrorist activities inflate one another’s ego.
The site was specifically set up to support the Douglas Creek Estates occupation in Caledonia and is a constant source of racist hatred toward non Natives or anyone who dares to speak against their terrorist, supremacist actions.
The message in the videos is neither subtle nor about “Aboriginal rights”. They boldly implore Natives to take up arms and attack the “evil” white man. They condemn negotiations as worthless and claim “the revolution is here”.
An excerpt from one of said videos. Burning bridges taking down, power lines 2007 it’s a sign of the times revolution’s real, feel my pain strap to a board and smash through your fucking brain. Ammonia Nitrate detonate a primer cord, hazard no more digging up the dawn, counter intelligence information aint gonna stop till I destroy your Nation, concerning non violence to hell with you all, fascist little bitches is the reason we fall.
Stare the enemy right in the eye, pull the pin prepare to die, residential schools attempted genocide, now it’s your turn to run and hide. Harper and McHale hope you burn in hell, you’ve done the right thing only time will tell. No one has ever called me a dirty Indian, down in Caledonia with the crosses burning, Canada sat down make a smart bomb, strapping myself up ready to get it on,
That is the cleanest portion of the language. One entitled “Killing for land “starts with the text “Igniting a revolution “another condones the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in the USA as justified.
The ideology of these people is clear. Hatred for everyone but Natives. The same ideology that fuels White Supremacist groups, Black Supremacist groups, a German Supremacist group that changed the world we live in, and now a Native Supremacy movement. To these people equality is a loathsome idea that can not be allowed to take place and we should all live in a world controlled by them or die.

Native Supremacy Movement
By Gary McHale - www.CaledoniaWakeupCall.com
“There are only two ways of dealing with the white man. One, either you pick up a gun, or you stand between the white man and his money.” Chief Terrance Nelson on CTV.
“I don’t give a rat’s ass whether I create victims or not… not until every single home has suffered as we have suffered will I stop.” Shawn Brant, Mohawk Warrior in Deseronto.
We are all well aware that in any community you have racist people. When these people gather together to make extreme public statements against another group of people we all understand that such actions conflict with the peaceful co-existence and multiculturalism that Canadians are so proud of.
When such racism is wrapped up with a superiority rant then a Supremacy Movement is born. We all understand the dangers of White Supremacy Groups and Muslim Extremists, but we need to understand there is a growing movement of Native Supremacy that justifies violent actions against other races.
Our Governments and Police Forces do not have a problem dealing with White Supremacy Groups or Muslim Extremists and we all understand that such groups only represent the views of a very small portion of society.
We noticed on the CSIS web site the following example of a terrorist threat in Canada: “White supremacists have been aggressively opposing the immigration policies of the Canadian government and have used violent rhetoric against the Jewish community.“
But how has our Government and the Police handled the Native Supremacy Groups? Well, first they deny they even exist. No amount of extreme ‘violent rhetoric’ against another race has caused CSIS, OPP or any police force to deal with these extremists.
I am unaware of any White Supremacy Group physically destroying a bridge or power station, but we have witnessed it being done by people whose publicly stated view is nothing short of Native Supremacy. The public statements that violate and victimize another race are acceptable and are commonplace in the ‘rhetoric’ of these extremists.
I can assure you that if I created a t-shirt that stated ‘my heroes have always killed Natives’ the police would be at my door charging me with a Hate Crime.
If I stated, “There are only two ways of dealing with the Jews. One, either you pick up a gun, or you stand between the Jew and his money”, you bet there would be Human Rights Complaints filed against me in a heart beat and the police would lay Hate Crime charges against me.
Racism and Hatred are responsible for many of the evils we see around the world. Canadians are trying to build a society where respect and tolerance for others is the way of life. There is no room within a modern society for any group that wants to promote their racist hatred.
We, as a People, must always be willing to denounce such racism in whatever form it takes.
We call upon Governments and Police to use Canada’s Hate Crime Laws and Anti-Terrorism Act to help fight against such racism and hatred. It is time for CSIS and the Police to deal with the creators and promoters of the racist videos below.
The promotion of violence and hatred by any person or group CANNOT be tolerated in Canadian Society.
WARNING: The posted videos contain disturbing images and explicit language. They also contain PROOF of, and encourage extreme violence, killing and terrorism. These videos could be seen as proof for a Native Supremacy Movement in Canada that labels all White people as Evil.
Copies of these Videos have been sent to CSIS and York Regional Police.

2 Tiered Justice struggle: What has been accomplished
For many months now we - with the help of some extraordinary fellow Canadians in and outside of Caledonia - have worked full time to vigorously and legally oppose the Two Tier Justice policies of the McGuinty government and the Ontario Provincial Police, and give a voice to those who had none. During this protracted and tiring struggle it is hard for people, especially those closest to the continuing occupation of the Douglas Creek Estates in Caledonia to believe that anything at all has been accomplished, especially given that native intimidation of landowners is spreading.
In fact, a great deal has been accomplished to date:
Our accomplishments
Helped media realize that residents were innocent victims. Public opinion has turned against them so much that Natives involved in the most recent landclaim intimidation event resorted to carrying signs saying, “We are NOT terrorists!“
Provided reliable source of information for media stories.
Made ‘Two Tier Justice’ a household phrase.
Exposed terrorist threats to CSIS and the public.
Created ‘The Ipperwash Papers’ project to expose Ipperwash Inquiry for the shameful cover-up it was, thereby denying it as a tool for McGuinty’s re-election campaign. We were the first to tell the real story of what happened to the residents of Ipperwash. We were the first to get that story in the mainstream media, and we were the first to predict - 2 ½ months prior to release of its report, that the Inquiry would not be able to make any recommendations for preventing violence against innocent residents.
Silenced OPP propaganda machine with lawsuits and police complaints.
Exposed Liberal plan to sell out residents.

Sloat leads Charge to Read Mayor’s Email
By Gary McHale - www.CaledoniaWakeupCall.com
According to the Mayor it is Mr. Sloat who is directing council to pass the motion to read the Mayor’s Email. Mr. Sloat attempted to clarify this point by getting Mr. Pearce to state that Sloat wasn’t the one behind the motion.
But is wasn’t too hard to see which council member was leading the charge because Mr. Sloat made the debate over the motion very personal – directly attacking the Mayor and her staff.
While Bartlett, Boyko and even Grice tried to find a middle ground it was clear Mr. Sloat would settle for nothing but all emails in his hands.
When Bartlett and Boyko presented the argument that no one wanted to read the Mayor’s email, Sloat was clear – I want her Emails.
Mr. Sloat’s argument was he missed an event that the Mayor went to and that was because she didn’t give him the email. The Mayor’s answer is that her staff forwards all emails that are either labelled Mayor & Councilor or includes a request to another council member.
I guess Mr. Sloat didn’t think that maybe this event he is so concerned about didn’t have his name on it in the email. Maybe the person who invited the Mayor didn’t include Mr. Sloat’s name and that is why he didn’t get a copy.
Mr. Sloat is an experienced council member and I would ask why he cannot get people in his riding to email him directly instead of going through the Mayor? He does have an email account so why not ask why the person in his riding failed to email Mr. Sloat directly – maybe because Mr. Sloat wasn’t invited.
Mr. Sloat claims that he had nothing to do with creating the motion. Somehow his views are the ones expressed in the motion and somehow it just happens to be a personal problem he claims to be having with the Major but he didn’t help create the motion.

Bulletin: Mayor Trainer Needs Your Help NOW
Tomorrow morning, Haldimand Council will present a repugnant bit of skullduggery cooked up by behind the Mayor’s back with the help of some councillors and county staff. This treachery takes the form of a resolution that removes all privacy between you and your mayor. Here is an excerpt:
BE IT RESOLVED; THAT ALL correspondence sent and received through the Mayor’s office including all e-mail addressed to the Mayor by title or name, be copied to all councilors as well as the County Clerk;
AND THAT the Mayor’s assistant implement this direction for all hard copy correspondence;
You got it. Council wants copies of everything sent to and from the Mayor! Of course, they aren’t suggesting that copies of their messages be subject to this odious rule, only the Mayor’s.
In addition to violating the privacy between you and your Mayor, Council is seeking to dramatically undermine her role as the CEO of Haldimand, a post for which she was duly elected. It is un-democratic and it cannot be allowed to succeed.

OPP use curfew to tackle mischief in Haldimand
Haldimand OPP have taken the unusual step of issuing a curfew for young people to combat mischief. On the weekend, Haldimand police plucked three young people off the streets and took them home. In each case, the parents weren’t aware their children were out, police said in a news release.
In one incident, some young people were found under the Caledonia bridge breaking bottles. One youth was charged, while others fled the scene, sending text messages to their friends warning them not to come, say police.
Police believe word of their crackdown on mischief must have spread because their were only six mischief incidents reported over the weekend and most of them were minor. The exception was some graffiti spray painted on buildings in Dunnville. Most of the words and images were directed at police.
Under the Child and Family Services Act, police are able to take any child under 16 off the street if they are in a public place between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. and not accompanied by an adult. Police may take a child home or to a place of safety.

Don’t inflame moraine debate - Waterloo is not Caledonia
Waterloo is not Caledonia. It is a different place with a different history and, most significantly for this discussion, no ongoing dispute with any Canadian First Nations community.
So why is David Wellhauser suddenly suggesting that the aboriginal protests that have rocked the town of Caledonia could erupt in the city of Waterloo? Why is Wellhauser, who has until now made reasoned arguments against three Waterloo subdivisions, grasping at a ridiculous, possibly dangerous straw in the campaign to stop the developments from being built? Why, indeed?
This week Wellhauser warned that if the region ignores aboriginal interests in Waterloo’s west side developments, it risks seeing a replay of the tensions that have gripped Caledonia for more than a year. Though Wellhauser didn’t specify what people in this community might have to look forward to, anyone familiar with the Six Nations occupation of a Caledonia subdivision knows it was marred last year by vandalism, violence, assaults, arrests as well as criminal charges, and that the occupation continues to this day. (Edit: Let’s call it like it is here. It’s a threat of a Terrorist attack)
Let’s be perfectly blunt here. The suggestion that these developments are on land claimed by an aboriginal community is without foundation. There is no outstanding aboriginal claim to any land in Waterloo Region, except to the bed and banks of the Grand River itself. And the west-side Waterloo lands are far from the river.

Land claims take back seat: Activist
It doesn’t involve gun crime in downtown Toronto, so native land claim issues get pushed aside, one native activist says.
Although a recent survey by Angus Reid shows 71% of Canadians want the government to speed up the native land claims process, Brian Wright-McLeod, cultural liaison officer for the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, said there doesn’t seem to be any political will to get it done.
“It’s all through legislation. Rather than the gun, it’s a quiet issue and people don’t recognize it,” Wright-McLeod said.
(Edit: I’m inclined to agree here. The Government should be focusing on a Native related problem such as the fact that they have AK-47’s on DCE which are far more dangerous than any hand gun, and one of them has already demonstrated their willingness to use them by blowing a hole through someones arm in the spring.)

‘The troubles’ hurt native tourism
The Hamilton Spectator
Ron Curley is a caring, gentle man whose strong spirit is running low these days. He’s in a tough spot — trying to draw customers to his new restaurant in Ohsweken — a place many associate with protesters since disputes about aboriginal land claims over a former Caledonia subdivision escalated last summer.
Tourism has plummeted — about 65 per cent from two years ago, says Janelle Sandy, assistant manager of Six Nations Tourism. “We’ve been hit hard,” she says, adding that higher gas prices and the Canadian dollar are also keeping Canadian and American tourists away. Last year, there were eight or nine tour buses booked for Six Nations attractions from one tourism partner. This year there’s none from that operator, she says.
It’s disheartening, says his assistant manager and niece, Andrea Curley, about the trouble in Caledonia. Racism came out so fast, she says.
Edit: Please.. Here we go with the racism again. Tourism is down for Natives because of the Illegal occupation of Douglas Creek Estates and the violence which has accompanied it. Many people are simply scared and confused, so this makes the tourists racist? This story should have been titled " Terrorism hurts Tourism"

The peaceful law abiding Native people who are being effected so horribly by the Criminal behavior of a small group should focus their attention on bringing an end to the occupation if they want to restore tourism to the area in my personal opinion.

National day of protest grew from roots in Caledonia
The recent national day of protest passed without very much disruption of our comfortable lives here in Canada. The blockage of a few highways and a CN Rail line could have been repeated dozens of times, all across the country. We aboriginals of this land have certainly suffered enough injustice. The history books are full of examples, for those who will open them.
The reason so many of the protests were fairly peaceful may be because of Six Nations’ example in Caledonia.
When Janie Jamieson and Dawn Smith led their young group of Six Nations people to reclaim the former Douglas Creek Estates site in February 2006, they did not take weapons. They only took their knowledge of Six Nations history and the Haldimand Proclamation - and a whole lot of courage.
(Edit: What the??? What news has this guy been watching for the last 18 months? This story REEKS of appeasement minded journalism.. “look at me I’m aborignial friendly!!”)

Six Nations waits on $125M offer; Confederacy negotiators wait for answers on Moulton land transfer documents
Six Nations Confederacy negotiators are waiting for answers before they respond to a $125 million offer from the federal government on four unresolved land claims.Mohawk Chief Allen MacNaughton said Six Nations asked federal negotiators for details on the 200-year old Moulton Township land transfer and on whose authority it was completed.
Proof of Canada’s level of priority for land issues in Haldimand County, the $125 million offer is an action that has never been taken before, said Haldimand Brant MP Diane Finley. “Now we are waiting for a response from Six Nations,” she added.“We hope the hereditary chiefs will look seriously at the offer or at least have a give and take and have something resolved,” said Haldimand County Mayor Marie Trainer.

She noted that the offer was contingent upon ending the occupation of Caledonia’s Douglas Creek Estates. She hoped that requirement applied to all sites in the county.

County demands action from Ottawa
Haldimand County council has demanded that Prime Minister Stephen Harper assign Haldimand Norfolk MP Diane Finley to represent the municipality in land claims negotiations in order to prevent economic disaster.“She needs to be at every (Haldimand) planning meeting, every community meeting and first-hand at the negotiating table,” said Coun. Don Ricker, who represents Moulton, Sherbrooke and Dunn. “Haldimand County should not be kept from any (negotiating) table. This is our issue … If this moves forward, this is going to help Haldimand County and Canada.”This week Trainer said Haldimand County was “a pilot project for the natives to see what can happen” with occupations. Caledonia, Dunnville, Hagersville and other parts of the county have “become lightning rods for First Nations frustrations over land claim inaction by the federal government” , she read.

Hartless is a Hero!
By Gary McHale - www.CaledoniaWakeupCall.com
Mr. Dave Hartless, a Hamilton Police Officer, who lives next to DCE has demonstrated true courage in the face of our modern society’s penchant for personal gain.
It would be easy for Mr. Hartless not to take a stand and easy for him to turn his back on the injustices that have occurred in Caledonia. He could have decided that his police career was more important than Truth and Justice. He could have decided that obeying orders was more important than his Oath of Office - the same Oath OPP officers take. He could have decided that there is a greater good and stand by while neighbours were victimized.
Dave is a Hero. He would not say this himself and that is also the quality of a Hero.
Mr. Hartless is one of the few people I have meet in my life who sees that Truth, Justice and Equality are more than just words. They are the substance that make Nations Great, the glue that binds people together and what can bring about lasting peace.
Mr. Hartless has had his family attacked, his 3 daughters were targeted, but he will not remain silent. [Link]
The OPP and Governments have learned through Ipperwash how to intimidate and pressure non-Native people to remain silent. They do this because both the OPP and every level of Government refuse to deal with the criminal activities of a small group of Native Protesters.
It is easier for the OPP to arrest peaceful non-Natives trying to raise a Canadian Flag than to arrest armed Native Protesters who have publicly stated there will be bloodshed.
It is easier for Fantino to try to get Hartless fired because Hartless has morals and principles that Fantino cannot possibly understand. Fantino has no problem allowing his officers to violate their Oath of Office, violate the Constitution, violate residents’ Rights & Freedoms and even violate basic human compassion towards others.

Cop cleared in war of words
The Hamilton Spectator
A Hamilton police officer has been cleared of accusations of discreditable conduct for criticizing Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino for their handling of the Caledonia native land claim dispute.
Fantino filed a formal complaint in February against David Hartless, a Hamilton constable whose Caledonia home backs onto the native-occupied, former Douglas Creek Estates, alleging a widespread e-mail Hartless sent was “venomous” and represented “conduct unbecoming” a police officer.
Hartless did not refer to himself as a Hamilton police officer in his Feb. 17 e-mail.
Fantino complained to Hamilton Police Chief Brian Mullan, telling him “the OPP have had enough of this nonsense.”
A spokesman for Fantino’s office said yesterday the OPP respect the findings of the Halton investigation and will not comment further. (Edit: Because they LOST)
Hamilton police agreed to issue a statement indicating Hartless — a frequent and vociferous critic of the OPP and the provincial government’s handling of the Caledonia situation — had committed no wrong.

Diane Finley: Haldimand a Priority
Simcoe, ON – Minister Diane Finley, M.P. Haldimand-Norfolk and Minister for Citizenship and Immigration Canada issued the following statement in response to the July 8th Press Conference held by Mayor Trainer and council of Haldimand County.
“I have heard the frustration from the town of Caledonia . As MP for the people of Haldimand - Norfolk I will certainly continue to meet with the county, as I’ve done in the past, to hear their concerns and present them in Ottawa.
The federal government has tabled an offer to Six Nations, worth $125 million and I continue to work with my cabinet colleagues including Minister Prentice, Minister for Indian and Northern Affairs to find a solution that works for all sides including the people of Caledonia .
Canada’s New Government is taking action to address specific claims like those in Caledonia by introducing a comprehensive package of reforms that proposes to revolutionize the claims resolution process in four ways:
o The creation of a fully independent Claims Tribunal through which impartial judges will resolve those claims where negotiations have met with failure;
o Setting aside 250 million dollars on an annual basis for the next ten years to be used to settle these claims and ensure financial accountability;
o Transform the Indian Specific Claims Commission into a neutral dispute resolution body relieved of its role as the government’s arbiter of claims, the Commission will be able to focus its efforts solely on mediation; and
o Develop practical measures to clear the backlog of relatively small claims and to increase the flexibility in handling of larger claims.
As MP for Haldimand Norfolk I am committed to helping find a safe and reasonable solution for Haldimand County , as soon as possible”.

Diane Finley: When Vanity is all you Have to Offer
Sometimes people ask whether our Political leaders are paying attention to us and what is posted on this site.
Well, we can say that Diane Finley not only reads what is on this site, but she changed her clothing and web site because of what we write. Too bad it is Vanity and not real substance that motivates Mrs. Finley. Too bad she won’t change her actions in Haldimand County, not just the colour of her clothing. But when all you have to offer people is Vanity then at lest you better do it in style.
A year ago we ran a series of stories bugging Mrs. Finley about wearing Red clothing and having a web site where the primary colour was Red. To us it wasn’t important, but to politicians of all political parties colour is very important. Mrs. Finley didn’t even understand the basic political idea that you present yourself using the colours of the party.
Of the 100+ Conservative MPs voted in, Mrs. Finley was the ONLY one using Red (Liberal) when presenting herself.

Diane Finley: Promise Made Promise Broken
One advantage of having a web site with over 5000 stories posted is that you can point out when Politicians are lying.
Below is a copy of Diane Finley’s web site from last year. On her web site she made a promise to the People of Haldimand County which you will not find any where on her new web site. She promised the following:
“From here on in, I will be sending out updates such as this every week until this situation’s resolved, so that you can be kept as informed as possible. As you deserve to be.”
Of course Mrs. Finley only sent out one additional weekly update in the past year - Promise Made Promise Broken. We would fully agree with Mrs. Finley that the people ‘deserve’ to have their representative communicate with them.

Grice puts McGuinty’s re-election ahead of residents
If there is anyone on Haldimand Council who should know what Caledonia residents have suffered through, and who is to blame for it, you’d think it would be Craig Grice, Councillor for Ward 3, especially since he lives close to the Douglas Creek Estates.
Apparently not.
According to Donna Pitcher’s report on her exclusive interview with Mayor Trainer today, the entire council (with the exception of Lorne Boyko who was out of town) stood against the Mayor’s desire to hold the province accountable for its failures in the County’s July 09/07 news release.
Councillor Grice is the same guy who has attended several March for Freedom events yet, on April 12/07, when asked about Fantino’s threatening email to Council, said “I have never supported the Marches in Caledonia. I think they send the totally wrong message.”
