This year’s Landing of the Mohawks ceremony, an event that typically happens every Victoria Day weekend, has been cancelled.It is only the second time since 1929 that the event has not happened, Maracle said. The other time was because of heavy rain. The event takes place at the historic site west of Deseronto where Captain John Deserontyon and about 20 families landed on May 22, 1784. The ceremony will return next year.
